Currently a small reach of the general population. However, the grant proposal for $1000 will allow their mission to be realized.

Need stronger evaluation. Attachements would help to understand the application.

Very altruistic organization but the grant does not impart confidence in their ideal goals and ability to survive as a business. They didn’t provide a timeline for activities in the grant period of 2020 – 2021 but instead one of past exhibition year activities timeline. I question the budgeting process because I am unsure of how funds to maintain the business side of the venture are collected. From the grant it appears that they give everything away. For instance, they seem to be a social service organization that doesn’t even worry about collecting credit card fees? If a student makes a sale is everything cash only? Are taxes collected? I was unable to find their NPO listed on “GuideStar.” The big question was...where do they get their money from? Marketing, advertising, printing costs, etc. They mentioned a fund-raising drive in September, but they do not describe it or provide details. More support materials were needed. The only support material they provided was a substitute w-9. I went to their website and their homepage shows a lot of activity that would have helped me to better understand their activities and potential, but they should have at least included a link to this. Letters of support from previous and upcoming funders and supporters would have gone a long way to provide confidence in their sustainability as a non-profit arts organization. Overall, Word Revolt appears to be making a great impact on the community, as well as a lot of artists and individuals lives. In the long run, I hope they succeed! Unfortunately, this grant did not provide enough information and proof of fiscal solvency to warrant a higher score. |
