Operating budgets for Current and Next FY are NOT balanced!!!!  I had this same comment last year!!!

Excellent Accessibility narrative.

Youth orchestras are now filling the role that public schools had to train youth in instrumental performance.  The Tallahassee Youth Orchestra is clearly committed and effective in bringing high quality performance training opportunities to youth from elementary through high school on all levels in a variety of ensembles.  Performance quality is excellent, repertoire is extremely varied and includes commissioning of new pieces from prominent composers.  TYO is a catalyst in the local music scene through collaborations with other performing organizations and schools, employing local musicians as teachers and coaches.

TYO recognizes that musical instrument training by its nature imparts the skills of discipline, responsibility, teamwork, practice, etc.  

It would be wonderful if the participating student groups would include more children of color.  Understanding that this is a local organization and that there may be geographical constraints, it is an issue that I hope they will address.  Our major professional instrumental ensembles will only become well integrated when there are candidates in the pipeline.
