I wish there were a clear mission of this facility. It seems to include both cultural programming and educational program--which, while valuable, is beyond the scope of our grants program. The grant should clearly address cultural programming. Also the only allusion to any private funding is that "Based on experience, some of these costs will be offset by sponsorships from groups such as the Friends of the Library. I love libraries. I love education. I believe before receiving state taxpayers funds from around the state you should first go to private donors in your own community.

Universal access goal is of utmost importance. Arts is only impactful if it is accessible. City of Parkland is committing to making this venue accessible to many people. That desire for accessibility is not limited to programming, age or disability. This is commendable |

This is a perfectly fine project except they are asking for too money for minimal Arts programming. Also there are no Arts professionals involved in the planning or execution of the project nor will an Arts Professional be working at the facility upon completion. No local financial participation except for the city of Parkland. Is FIU donating architectural services for this project? Contractor services, programming ? Exactly what is their participation |

Nice accessibility details in the Community Impact statement. Smart partnership with FIU on design. From application- "The City will have a design/build team selected in the summer of 2017." Has that competed? Grant dollars cannot be spent on work already complete before grant period. Would have liked to see support letters from the community. Where are the surveys or polls showing community support? This grant fits in with the stated goals of the grant program.

I like the project...its connection to the library, as a response to community growth and demographic change, and the needs identified by residents. Wish there was other funding besides the city and state for this project. It is unrealistic to think hiring one additional person will be enough to do what is described in this grant, especially as new audiences are targeted for new programming. Working with individuals of varying abilities, teens, and elders require special skill sets to be done well. Also, is there currently a cafe? What are the NEW initiatives embraced by this space not currently in the scope of the city? Nice plan for inside, but too bad the architecture from the exterior is so uninteresting. Strong letters from government, but would like to see letters from users/residents/partners. |

Seems more like community meeting rooms and classrooms for general interest classes, not a cultural facility.

Although you have included letters of support from all the elected officials of your area (US and State), they have not committed to any help in fund raising. Likewise it is disappointing that you have included no letters of support from the community.

Application lacked evidence supporting 85% of use devoted to cultural programming. |
