$700K seems very high for a lighting budget. It appears to be a good relocation in terms of outreach into a neighborhood with few cultural institutions. Environmentally sensitive project. I especially like the fact that you are adjacent to public transportation. I am confused by the section including donor profile and percentage of community support. I believe those numbers should relate specifically to the grant request. However, it appears that the match is provided by just one family. When I looked at the budget detail it appears that no funds are being expended on the new building. I would be interested to know what the overall investment in the new facility is. I would like to score this higher but the grant leaves many questions unanswered.

The outreach is phenomenal. The desire to share this experience with children, military and underserved for free is commendable. The traveling exhibition overview PDF was very helpful in painting a picture of the work that is accomplished with this museum.

The staffing expenditures in 2020 are fairly high. How many staff do you anticipate hiring? How many do you have now and are they full time?    Bookstore sales are quite good.

What will happen to old building?

I have some real concerns with the fact that the improvements using state monies will be in a privately owned building. The applicant is going to have to resolve these issues for me at the grant meeting in Orlando. I can change my score based on those answers.

Application states that renovations would start in June 2017, have they? This project will have a considerable positive impact on the neighborhood where it is located and will help to stretch the arts district from Wynwood to the west side of I-95. Great support letters. The application would have benefited from detailed pricing and plans around the lighting instead of the one line item. I am excited for this project and for the Division and Cultural Council to partner with this great organization.

Spending plan too broad...lacks detail.

Wonderful large, founding donor.  Would like to see community buy in represented in the match.

A bit of confusion regarding the Donor Profile stats...who do these represent?

A very exciting project that has also put thought into integration into their new community.  Already a model for diverse, high quality arts programming.

Will the $200k increase in salaries cover the number of new staff the grant references?  Additions to development and communication are explicitly mentioned and with an expanded space, more exhibitions, and increased education programs there is an assumption that there will be additions in those areas as well?

Strong support letters.

I see that your patron owns the land and building and leases it to the foundation and that the foundation is a private foundation.  What is the relationship between the public charity and your wonder patron - the Rubel family?  I understand it is part of the "Miami model".  How does that fit with the state's desire to leave a permanent legacy through our cultural institutions?

Has the rest of the $7.5 million budget been raised?  Is it all the contribution of the single donor?

How much of your $3.9 million assets are liquid?

How have you tested whether your audience cross I-95 to the new location?

How far is the nearest MetroRail stop.  Is it within walking distance?

What factors give you the feeling that Annabelle Selldorf is the right architect for this location?  I know she is the darling of the elites at the moment, and although I like minimalism, I"m not as enthralled by this design and her other work as many seem to be.

Excellent letters of support.  You have an great active collaboration with the schools, homeless community and the sight impaired.
