Impressive number and quality of programs planned for a museum with  only 2 staff and 25 volunteers. Ability to carry out these plans seems realistic, if challenging. Good plans for evaluation and marketing. Museum has done MAP and Collecting to Connections and is preparing a new Strategic Plan. Goals such as increasing membership are good for long-term financial stability. County support ($50K) shows the museum is valued. Why did admissions revenue drop so dramatically? Application does not indicate when the Accessibility Self Evaluation was completed.

The Sample-McDougald House is seeking out support for new Regional Public programs featuring 47 historic, cultural and educational activities related to regional heritage, arts and culture.  Participants will partake in 301 artist and educator-led exhibits, concerts, festivals, workshops, classes, lectures, and youth and adult education programs.  Goals and objectives of increased attendance by 25% and youth involvement by 50% seems ambitious. Current partnerships are good and the new initiative with John Knox Village promising.  Collections are mission-based and completing the Collections Management Policy timely.  Impact narrative is more modest than the numbers projected.  Marketing plans seem balanced.  Very impressed with the balance of Corporate and Individual support as well as admissions.  It is unclear why the projection next year has greatly diminished.  It is also unclear how the institution can project $50K for next year in local/county support.  An explanation of this and the applicant cash of $118,762 as well as a jump from $0 to $33,693 for Private Foundation support would have been helpful.  These together have substantially increase the budget next year by $140K.  These questions have left this reviewer confused and a bit in doubt about ability to carry out this project.  No questions regarding accessibility.

Your participation in the Museum Assessment Program and the FAM's IMLS funded collections program, as well as your creation a Collections Management Policy, is commendable, and your plans for expanding your programming with a new set of activities to engage visitors sound ambitious but good.  This relatively new institution seems to be committed to establishing sound museum management procedures. No date for last review of the Abbreviated Accessibility Checklist made it hard to grade accessibility.
