Excellence:

  •  The DVCA mission statement is cogent and purposeful
  • Receiving John S. and James L. Knight Foundation Grant, and a WEGE Foundation, and Joan Mitchael Foundation grants attest to program quality.
  • The objective is to support an accelerated maturation of the works of six artistsis noteworthy but goals, objectives and activities need to be more clear/measurable to advance the stated mission.

Impact:

  • Provides distinctive cultural services to the community
  •  stronger case for community cultural and/or economic development (reinvestment and how dollars are spent/recycled in the local economy) could be made.
  • Consider fortifying DVCA’s impact by utilizing a range of free verifiable sources for arts impact data. from AFTA’s Arts & Economic Prosperity 5.
  • Marketing and educational outreach activities are appropriate for the size/scope of the program/project

Management:

  • Very minimal concerns about organizations fiscal well-being or project/programing sustainability
  • Some evaluation methods may be measurable but not all are fully measurable
  • Very minimal concerns about sustainability of activities after the grant cycle

Accessibility:

  • Meets ADA accessibility criteria (504 Self Eval, compliance staff person, etc.)

Proposal impact could benefit from sharing specific dollar figures reinvested into the community from regular events.

Good data collection.

Excellence: Synopsis was a little confusing. Explaining what the Caribbean Crossroads Series is would have strengthened it. Mission statement was very strong and descriptive. In general, this section felt disconnected. Artists were listed, then collaborators, then more detail would be provided for a specific artist or collaborator but not all and not in a discernible order. Gloria Rolando received a detailed section but was not previously listed with the rest of your artists. Timeline lacked specific dates.

Impact: Use of economic impact calculator would strengthen this section. Education components referenced (workshops and artist talks) but number of each not listed and no outreach programs referenced. Strong radio/tv presence. Want more inform on why exhibition cards are printed infrequently and why fewer invitations will be printed.

Management:Could be strengthen by providing additional details about any cash reserves, amount or lack of debt/long term liabilities, track record of operating in the black. Postive point to see that exhibitions are documented for archival purposes as well as media coverage.

Accessibility: Beyond being ADA accessible, no other details are provided. Does not address intellectual or socio-economic barriers in this section.
