Excellence:
- The mission statement describes the organization and activities that support the organizations mission.
- Tempus provides general information about two opportunities (with one sentence goals and objectives but no delineated activities).
- Artists Residency Program (4 one-month residencies
- Goals and objectives are straightforward but measurable outcome assessment could be improved if quantitative and qualitative targets (and stretch targets were established and embedded in goals, objectives and activities.
- Partnerships are clearly describe the proposed program along with each entities role in the program.
- Some concerns about the organizations fiscal stability and ability to carry out the proposed activities during and after the grant cycle.
Impact: - Appropriate number of individuals benefiting directly and indirectly from this program.
- Program serves diverse populations (no single racial/ethnic group accounted for more than 25% of the population directly benefitting from the program/project).
- The proposal impact mentions the Tempus Project’s role since 2009 in creative class neighborhood revitalization in Seminole Heights. Consider emphasizing and quantifying your contributions to the local creative economy by referencing American’s for the Arts, Arts & Economic Prosperity 5 report which has compelling statistical data, testimonials, case studies, and a prosperity calculator you can customize and generate your own community impact data.
- Marketing and educational outreach activities are appropriate for the program/project but this information was (more or less) stated previously and it may be difficult to measure success and/or identify specific solutions to improve outcomes.
Management:
- Some concerns about the organizations fiscal stability and ability to carry out the proposed activities given the OE, grant budget request, etc.
- The evaluation plan considers: media coverage, number (and quality) of proposal submissions, event attendance, sales, donations, etc.). These are reasonable soft data collection points.
- Consider writing the evaluation plan in a way that objectives and outcomes are to be fully quantifiable/measurable (set targets) so you can determine which strengths and/or shortcomings emerge and how the can be emphasized/mitigated to better serve the organizations mission.
- Concerns about organizations to sustain the program/project after grant cycle (e.g., stipends for residency artists, per diems for Havana, program assistants, exhibit designers, printing costs, window vinyl, etc.) are all funded by the grant.
Accessibility:
- Appears to meet ADA accessibility criteria (504 Self Eval, compliance staff person, etc.)

Excellence: Good description of program. Want to know how long the organization has been in operation. Would start with the fact that the city's history is deeply entrenched in Cuban culture. Didn't mention exchange partner in partnerships section. Timeline is very straight forward. Impact: Use of economic calculator would strengthen this section. Outreach events mostly initiated by artists. Can you give past examples. For marketing, any physical pieces. Reliant on cross-promotion and volunteers. Any future plans to hire a dedicated staff member? Management: Creative fundraising activities. Would like to see #s from membership program. Any reserves, debt, long term liabilities? Accessibility: Appreciated that you included future partnerships you are seeking out. |
