Clercx Byron - Score: 93.000

Excellence:

  • Mission statement is clear and programs/activities fully support the mission
  • Three stated goals are laudable and achievable
  • Activities proposed are extensive, ambitious, and purposeful
  • Confident in the ability of the SFAC to carry out the (full) proposal
  • Clearly describes partnerships (7 local, 4 International, 2 Corporate)

Impact:

  • Provides significant cultural services and opportunities to the community
  • Qualitative impact is stated in narrative (e.g., ArtCenter is credited as the catalyst for the revitalization of Lincoln Road and the surrounding areas…) but it is not fortified by statistical data that corroborates and amplifies rightful assertions.
  • The marketing and promotion plan and audience outreach development is broad, robust, and effective (e.g., TeenWorks mentoring program/workshops, ReStart 10-month residency with Lotus House Shelter, bi-lingual pressers and media alerts, active social media, etc.)

Management:

  • Evaluation plan: uses surveys, quantity and quality of residency applicants, attendance tracking, total program exposure, enrollment numbers, and media coverage (local, regional, and international).
  • Some evaluation methods may be measurable but not all are fully measurable (without proper benchmarking, evaluation criteria, and context)
  • Very minimal concerns about sustainability of activities after the grant cycle

Accessibility:

  • Meets ADA accessibility criteria (504 Self Eval, compliance staff person, etc.)
Dodds Jed - Score: 91.000
Commitment to keeping artists at the core of programs and purpose is strong. Scope of programs and impact on neighborhood is self evident. Will be interesting to see what changes with new leadership.
Harder Lee Ellen - Score: 97.000

Krivinchuk Jeremiah - Score: 96.000
Clear and measurable goals and objectives.  Strong community impact and partnerships.
Packard Lisa - Score: 80.000

Space Rental/rent is tripling, but I don't think I read anything that explained why. $138,000 for benefits to already very high salaries and it serves 50,000.

I think the budget is over-inflated for the number of people served.

Ryan Sara - Score: 97.000

Excellence: Strong synopsis. Liked that key words were bold. Clear goals and objectives that tie back into goals. Strong partnerships and clear timeline.

Impact: Use of economic calculator would strengthen this section. Appreciated that press releases and media alerts are in both English and Spanish.

Management: Endowment, conservative internal culture and strong oversight. Cash reserves, debts, long term liabilities? Appreciated transparency of how resident artists are selected and that the percent of salary dollars the grant would cover were included in the budget and no position would be covered by more than 15%.

Accessibility: ADA compliant, international symbol signage in sans serif and Braille. Gender-neutral bathrooms. Any future plans to address intellectual disabilities?

Sanfilippo Amanda - Score: 94.000

Ambitious goal to take residency pgm. to next level. Exciting!
