Clercx Byron - Score: 77.000

Excellence:

  • The Mission statement is perfunctory
  • Goals: #1 (marketing) and #2 (expanding offerings) are followed by lists that include objectives but could use more definition to explain the relevance or relationship to the mission.
  • Objectives emphasize workshops, classes, open studios, open houses, etc. but don’t delineate how they will be assessed or how the data will be used to improve outcomes.
  • Limited partnerships include: the Arts and Cultural Alliance of Sarasota and the Art Renewal Center. Collaborations are conducted with the National Portrait Society and they have members of the SunCoast Alliance for Lifelong Learning

Impact:

  • Limited emphasis or data on economic and/or community impact of proposed activities. Consider emphasizing and/or expanding your organizations contributions to the creative economy by referencing the American’s for the Arts, Arts & Economic Prosperity 5 report which are embedded with compelling statistical data, testimonials, case studies and a useful economic prosperity calculator.
  • The Marketing and Promotion plan is appropriate (broadcast, various websites, on social media, and during receptions, artist demos, etc.).
  • The educational outreach activities are adequate for the program/project

Management:

  • Some concerns about the organizations fiscal stability and ability to carry out the proposed activities given the OE, grant budget request, etc.
  • Evaluation methods are not clearly delineated or fully measurable.
  • Concerns about organizations to sustain the program/project after grant cycle

Accessibility:

  • Applicant has completed the Abbreviated Accessibility Checklist (but not the Section 504 Self Evaluation Workbook).

Quality of work is strong, within a traditional frame. Community impact and accountability is questionable.

      Krivinchuk Jeremiah - Score: 87.000
Overall good.  Concerned with goal 2 and if it is achievable during the grant period.  Overall impact numbers appear low for the number of opportunities for public participation.
      Packard Lisa - Score: 68.000

I have issues with the overall request. This arts center is seeking $32,981 to basically underwrite their program and they serve 1,000 people. I'm uncomfortable with zero corporate revenue as part of their operating budget and nothing from their county arts alliance.

While well written, I think they are asking the wrong people for money, if I can be perfectly honest.

Excellence: Mission statement does not address which communities it is enriching. Activities very clearly outlined. Objectives are measurable and directly feed into overarching goals. Clarifying what or how you determine "a reasonable cost" would strengthen this section. The brochure and video helped visualize your offerings and added depth to this section.

Impact: Liked seeing 50/50 split between paying and scholarship students. Smaller number of individuals benefiting, but appropriate for targeted offerings you provide.

Management: Could be strengthen by elaborating on what actions have been taken to ensure continued sustainability and providing additional details about any cash reserves, amount or lack of debt/long term liabilities, track record of operating in the black.

Accessibility: ADA compliant. Does not address intellectual or socio-economic barriers in this section (although scholarships are addressed in the impact section).
