Offering free admission and through its excellent exhibitions and programs, MOCA has a huge impact, but in the proposal an economic impact number is not cited. How do ads in art magazines reach community, if that is target audience? The budgets provided look good but in each column income and expenses are perfectly balanced. Shouldn't at least the most recently completed one be a bit unbalanced?
Gelman Elizabeth - Score: 96.000
Very strong grant application.
Hughes Michael - Score: 93.000

True to mission, impressive fundraising.  The rigor and field advancing nature of the exhibitions was not elaborated on.

Joseph Samuel - Score: 87.000

Although created out of an established organization, this institution is new to the South Florida community and has to build its own reputation.

The proposal did not address how the applicant, born out of contention, is working to build (and in some cases rebuild) the reputation and relationships necessary to succeed in South Florida.

The programming outlined in the proposal is standard, not field advancing. How do you intend to rise "above the clutter" in South Florida's crowded cultural market?

The reviewer needed more budget details to address some issues in the submitted budget (i.e. difference between Assoc. Dir. and Deputy Dir. & Dir. of Ed and Curator of Programs; why do they both get  paid more than Director of Education)

It is important that applicants submit letters of support from their stakeholders, partners, and/or constituents to show outside commitment for their work.
Norton Heather - Score: 98.000

Strong proposal with clearly identified goals and strategies for achieving those goals.  ICA is opening a new building so there could be some growing pains associated with that, especially in light of the heavy focus on fundraising to meet financial goals.  The commitment to being free and offer programs to meet the diverse community is admirable though.
